LONDON (Alliance News) - Renewable Energy Holdings PLC Thursday said the Mynydd y Gwynt wind farm project in Wales has entered into the recommendation and decision phase after it completed the six-month examination phase.
During the recommendation and decision phase, the Planning Inspectorate has three months to prepare a report with a recommendation to the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Amber Rudd, who then has a further three months to make the decision on whether to grant or refuse development consent.
Renewable Energy said it expects a decision no later than November 20.
The onshore Mynydd y Gwynt wind farm project will consist of 27 wind turbines of 3 megawatt to 3.3 megawatts each, giving a total capacity between 81 megawatts to 89.1 megawatts.
Last week, Rudd, who was appointed as secretary of state for energy and climate change following the Conservatives win in the UK General Election, said she would "halt the spread" of onshore wind farms, adding she wanted to introduce new powers ? which she wants to be in place by this time next year ? which will hand powers to councils, which in turn will have to consult residents first about new onshore wind farm applications.
Under current planning rules for big onshore wind farms, applications are handled by a central government quango which has the powers to over-ride the wishes of local people.
Renewable Energy Holding shares were down 8.9% to 2.28 pence per share on Thursday morning.
