Renewable Energy Generation Wind Farm Plans Called In For New Review

10th Jun 2014 09:44

LONDON (Alliance News) - Renewable Energy Generation Ltd Tuesday said the UK Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has exercised his right to call-in its previously approved eight megawatt French Farm wind farm extension.

The renewable energy company said the project's future will now be determined at a public inquiry, overseen by the Planning Inspectorate.

Most planning applications are decided locally by the district or other local planning authorities. However, the Secretary of State has reserve powers to direct the local planning authority to refer an application to him or her for decision, which is known as 'calling-in'.

Peterborough Council's planning committee approved the extension plans on February 4.

The planned extension was for four additional turbines at the site, which would bring its capacity to 12 megawatts, with an annual energy ouput of 28.5 gigawatt hours, making it one of the company's most productive wind farms.

Renewable Energy Generation shares were down 1.1% to 69.22 pence on Tuesday.
