ReNeuron's New Cardiff University Venture Gets Research Grant

14th Aug 2019 15:35

(Alliance News) - ReNeuron Group PLC on Wednesday said a new venture with Cardiff University has secured a UK government grant to research and develop new treatments for hard-to-target disorders of the central nervous system.

The stem cell research company said the grant has been awarded under Innovate UK's Knowledge Transfer Partnership and will fund a GBP250,000 research programme, undertaken by ReNeuron and the European Cancer Stem Cell Research Institute at Cardiff University.

The research programme will develop new systems to enable the delivery of therapeutic nucleic acids, such as small interfering RNA, across the blood brain barrier using ReNeuron's CTX stem cell-derived exosomes.

"We are very excited about the potential of our exosome technology platform to deliver therapeutic compounds to the brain and thereby to make a real step-change in the development of treatments against hard-to-target disorders of the central nervous system," ReNeuron's Research Head Randolph Corteling said.

Shares in ReNeuron were trading 0.6% higher at 207.00 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
