Regency Mines Says Direct Nickel Begins Feasibility Study In Indonesia

LONDON (Alliance News) - Regency Mines PLC Friday said that Direct Nickel Ltd has began a feasibility study for a key nickel plant in Indonesia.

The mineral exploration and investment company said DNi is now completing a feasibility study for the first commercial-scale 'direct nickel process' nickel processing plant.

The DNI process is a hydrometallurgical process to process nickel, which is believed to be the only process capable of uncovering nickel from multiple different ore formations at the same time.

Regency Mines has a 7.5% shareholding in DNi and is the company's joint venture partner at the on the Mambare nickel-cobalt laterite project in Papua New Guinea,which is licensed to use the DNI process.

The company said the feasibility study will take place at PT Antam Tbk's Buli operation in Indonesia next a ferronickel smelter currently under construction.

The feasibility study is expected to be complete in early 2015.

Regency Mines shares were down 3.9% at 0.4 pence Friday.
