(Alliance News) - Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC on Wednesday said it has completed the sale of its Essential Home unit, which houses the Cillit Bang, Calgon and Air Wick range, to global private equity firm Advent International LP.
Back in July, the Slough, England-based consumer health and hygiene products company behind Durex, Nurofen and Vanish struck a USD4.8 billion deal to sell a majority chunk of the division.
Following the divestment, Reckitt confirmed it retains an interest in Essential Home through a 30% stake in Advent's acquisition vehicle.
Reckitt reiterated its plans to return excess capital from the disposal to shareholders.
The company said a circular and general meeting notice outlining details of the proposed around USD2.2 billion special dividend and associated share consolidated are expected to be issued on or around Wednesday next week.
Shares in the company were up 0.1% at 6,018.00 pence on Wednesday morning in London.
"The completion of the divestment of Essential Home is a major step forward in our strategy, moving Reckitt towards becoming a simpler, more effective world-class consumer health and hygiene company focused on a core portfolio of high-growth, high-margin Powerbrands. I want to thank all our Essential Home colleagues for their contributions to Reckitt and wish them well for the future," said Chief Executive Kris Licht.
