Real Good Food's Napier Brown Wins Sugar Contracts With Asda, Booker

10th Oct 2013 07:27

LONDON (Alliance News) - The Real Good Food Company PLC Thursday said that its sugar trading subsidiary Napier Brown has secured two major new supply contracts for its Whitworths sugar brand from supermarket chain Asda Group Limited and food wholesaler Booker Group PLC.

The baker and sugar producer did not disclose any financial details of the new contracts, but said they will create around 80 new jobs, and double the retail value of Whitworths's sugar sales, which it said has become its fastest-growing brand in the sugar category following a re-launch last summer and the addition of a new range.

Real Good Food said the new contracts will begin later this month and include the supply of more than 60 product lines, including Whitworths's everyday and specialist ranges and a number of new product lines targeting specific consumer needs.

Real Good Food also said that it has nearly completed the construction of a GBP3.5 million Napier Brown sugar handling facility at Immingham on Humberside, and expects it to be fully completed by the end of the year. It said that the facility will enable it to handle bulk sugar shipments arriving by sea, and their onward distribution to food manufacturers and other customers across the north of England, more efficiently.

Shares in the company were up 4.9% Thursday morning, trading at 53.50 pence per share.
