Randgold To Resume Production As Reaches Ivory Coast Mine Agreement

30th Jul 2018 18:37

LONDON (Alliance News) - Randgold Resources Ltd said Monday that production at its Tongon gold mine is set to resume following an agreement.

Workers at the FTSE 100-listed gold mining company's Ivory Coast gold mine went on strike but a new agreement between all involved groups, including union representatives and mine management, has now been reached.

"Given the ongoing social issues that have intermittently affected the mine's operations over the past two years, and after the latest work stoppage which halted production two weeks ago, we have engaged with government who have taken measures to secure the assets and are dealing with the situation," said Randgold Chief Executive Mark Bristow.

Randgold said it is "seeking to restart mining and processing operations" but did not provide a specific date for when this would take place.

Shares in Randgold closed up 1% at 5,610.00 pence on Monday.
