LONDON (Alliance News) - Randgold Resources Ltd on Wednesday said it returned the Tongon gold mine in Cote d'lvoire to production following the lock-out imposed on workers after a protracted illegal strike.
The FTSE 100-listed mining company said Tongon mine is now fully operational, and the phased return of the full employee complement is expected to be complete by the weekend. Randgold expects the mine to achieve revised annual production guidance of 230,000 ounces of gold in calendar 2018.
"Despite the setbacks at Tongon, the overall group production outlook remained within the guidance given at the start of the year albeit towards the lower end of the range," said Chief Executive Mark Bristow.
Shares in Randgold were trading 0.2% lower on Wednesday at 4,940.00 pence each.
