LONDON (Alliance News) - Randgold Resources PLC, in partnership with ten other companies operating in West Africa, Monday called on the international community to step up the fight against the Ebola virus.
The company has joined forces with a number of London-listed mining companies in the alliance, including Aureus Mining Inc.
"We have strong ties to hundreds of local communities that depend on our operations. Despite the challenging environment, we are continuing where possible with normal operations, with the health and safety of our employees being the absolute priority at all times," the company said in a joint statement.
"We therefore urge the international community to pool its resources and lend support to help reverse the virus and enable these countries to recover as swiftly as possible from dealing with the epidemic," the statement said.
Rangold Resources shares were quoted down 0.9% at 4,693.00 pence Monday, while Aureus Mining shares were quoted down 2.1% at 23.00 pence.
