Randgold Resources Chairman Steps Down; Replacement Found

31st Jan 2014 14:15

LONDON (Alliance News) - Randgold Resources Ltd Friday said Chairman Philippe Liétard is to step down from the role after its next annual general meeting, when he will be succeeded by current Independent Non-Executive Director Christopher Coleman.

Liétard is stepping down after ten years as chairman and four years short of an overall 20 years at the company.

"We shall miss Philippe's presence on the board, but fortunately he has agreed to become the first chairman of Nos Vies en Partage Foundation, the charitable foundation recently established by Randgold," Mark Bristow, chief executive, said in a statement.

Coleman, who is also the Head of Banking and Finance at Rothschild and sits on the board of NASDAQ-listed Papa Johns International Inc, has been an independent non-executive director of Randgold since 2008.

Jemal-ud-din Kassum, a Tanzanian national based in the US, educated in the United Kingdom at Harrow School and Oxford University, will become an independent non-executive director.

He also holds an MBA from Harvard University, and is currently a director of Guardian Holdings Ltd, a board commissioner of PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance and a director of Khan Bank.
