LONDON (Alliance News) - Randgold Resources Ltd said Friday that the Kibali gold mine had been opened by the Democratic Republic of Congo's Minister of Mines, Martin Kabwelulu.
Kibali is owned by Randgold and AngloGold Ashanti Ltd, which both have a 45% stake in the mine, and the remainder owned by Democratic Republic of Congo state gold mining company Société Miniere de Kilo-Moto.
The mine will be operated and developed by Randgold.
In the three months to December the mine produced 88,200 ounces of gold and recorded a profit before interest, tax and depreciation of USD66.8 million.
Shares in Randgold were trading up 0.2% at 4,687.00 pence Friday afternoon.
