LONDON (Alliance News) - Power producer Rame Energy PLC Thursday said the landslide at the 15 megawatts Raki/Huajache wind power project in Chile hit production and delayed the project.
Rame holds a 20% equity interest in the project alongside Santander Investment Chile Ltda.
Back in December, Rame said that a landslide was restricting the delivery of components by turbine supplier Vestas. At the time it said that the "preferred route" must be cleared by the authorities before any deliveries can be made, as an alternative route would incur additional transportation costs. It also said that the erection of the turbines may be slightly delayed as a result, but it was hoping to recover some of the lost time during the commissioning period.
In a statement Thursday, Rame said that the transportation of the turbine components from the temporary storage facility at the port of Lirquen has now commenced and the first tower sections, nacelles and drive trains have arrived at the site.
"The interruption caused by the landslide delaying transportation of turbine components to the site has presented a significant challenge to the expected timing of this project but we have taken all the steps necessary to minimise the impact," said Chief Executive Tim Adams in a statement.
Adams said that the progress the company was making prior to the landslide has now been resumed.
Rame Energy shares were trading 4.7% lower Thursday morning at 9.05 pence.
