(Alliance News) - Quarto Group Inc said Monday it has appointed Polly Powell as chief executive officer of the company's UK operations.
The company said Powell, who has worked in non-fiction publishing for more than thirty years, was a member of the management team that acquired the book publishing business from Chrysalis Music Ltd in 2004.
In 2012, Powell became sole owner of what is now Pavilion Books Holdings Ltd, and will continue to serve on the board of the company. She is also a non-executive director of National Gallery Company Ltd, Quarto noted.
The company also announced the appointment of Andrea Giunti Lombardo as non-executive director. He is not considered to be independent, the company noted.
The company said Lombardo is a member of the board of Giunti Editore SPA, the second largest publishing house in Italy and owner of the Giunti al Punto bookstore chain. He has been involved in different aspects of the publishing industry, and has extensive experience in finance, mergers & acquisitions and digital development.
Quarto shares were untraded in London on Monday afternoon, last quoted at 71.75 pence each.
