PureTech Health's Sync Project Appoints Musicians To Advisory Board

5th May 2016 08:58

LONDON (Alliance News) - Healthcare company PureTech Health PLC on Thursday said it has appointed a series of musicians to the advisory board of its The Sync Project.

The Sync Project, a PureTech business focused on developing music as a personalised medicine, has appointed Peter Gabriel, Annie Clark, better known as St Vincent, electronic musician Jon Hopkins and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen to the board.

In addition, the group has appointed Steven Holtzman, the chief executive of US-based oncology company Millennium Pharmaceuticals to the advisory board.

The members will work with the project on large-scale studies on how the structural properties of music impact biometrics like heart rate, brain activity and sleep patterns. This will be done with a view to investigating the use of music to help treat a range of conditions, including sleep disorders, fatigue, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery, anxiety and pain.

"The Sync Project has a leading team of scientific, clinical and engineering experts. Having world-class musical artists advise on product strategy is enormously exciting as the Sync Project expands its clinical testing to include broader populations," said PureTech Chief Executive Daphne Zohar.

PureTech shares were down 0.8% to 122.00 pence Thursday morning.
