LONDON (Alliance News) - PureCircle Ltd said Friday its rebaudioside M stevia product has been deemed safe to use in the European Union.
A scientific paper from the European Safety Authority will now be evaluated by European member states in January 2016, with final authorisation to be made later in the year. The product secured US approval towards the end of 2013.
"Through our PureCircle Stevia Agronomy Program, we have been scaling stevia leaf naturally and increasing the volume of sugar-like steviol glycosides, such as Reb M, with traditional breeding techniques," said PureCircle Chief Operating Officer Jordi Ferre in a statement.
Shares in PureCircle were flat at 400.00 pence Friday morning.
