PureCircle Says US Customs & Border Protection Release Shipments

29th Jun 2016 07:09

LONDON (Alliance News) - Stevia ingredients producer PureCircle Ltd on Wednesday said its shipments which were detained by the US Customs & Border Protection have now been released for import into the US.

Earlier this month, PureCircle said US Customs & Border Protection issued a communication regarding a detention order preventing the company from shipping stevia into the US, but said the order was based on "an inaccurate allegation" that its shipments contained products which were produced using forced labour.

PureCircle had warned the detention could hit sales and profit for its current financial year.

On Wednesday, PureCirlce said its shipments had been released and that it was continuing to work actively with the US Customs & Border Protection to effect a "full resolution of the issue for further shipments".

Shares in PureCircle were up 8.8% at 293.75 on Wednesday morning.
