LONDON (Alliance News) - Pure Wafer PLC on Tuesday said it fell to a first-half loss due primarily to one-off costs related to a fire at its Swansea facility, which also helped to drag back revenue.
The company, which provides silicon wafer reclaim services to semiconductor companies, said it swung to a pretax loss of USD14.8 million in the half year to the end of December, compared to a USD2.1 million profit a year earlier.
The loss was driven almost entirely by a USD15.7 million one-off cost it booked related to the fire at its wafer reclaim facility in Swansea in December. Revenue also fell in the half, down to USD16.3 million from USD18.2 million.
As a result of the loss caused by the Swansea fire, the company said it is not recommending an interim dividend payout.
Shares in Pure Wafer were down 4.8% to 38.1 pence on Tuesday.
