LONDON (Alliance News) - Proton Power Systems PLC Monday said its subsidiary SPower has launched a new product for Solar Battery Storage Systems that will help systems store power so that it can be released at night when demand and power costs are higher.
The new product, the SPBS3000, allows storage of solar power during the day and release of energy at night as well as serving as an uninterruptible power supply system, it said.
"This product solves an acute problem for existing and future solar systems where power is generated during the day and sold to the grid at a discounted rate and then has to be purchased back from the grid in the evening at full commercial rates," Proton Chairman John Wall said.
"The system can be used on or off grid and can feed power into the grid. It also can work in combination with a diesel generator and is specified for EMEA markets for multi usage functionality. It is made in Germany and will be sold at a very competitive price," the company said in a statement.
Proton Power Systems shares were up 21.6% at 3.495 pence Monday morning, one of the biggest rises on the London market.
