LONDON (Alliance News) - Fuel cell systems company Proton Power Systems PLC on Monday said it has secured an order for a containerised fuel cell power system for an Orkney Islands "Surf & Turf" project.
"Surf & Turf" is a project that generates hydrogen from wind and tidal energy and using the hydrogen as the storage medium for the power, Proton said.
The order is worth EUR500,000 and the system will be delivered in 2016.
"We hope to see more applications in this market sector and more islands like the Orkney Islands taking a proactive role. Proton expects a fast growing demand worldwide for this type of applications," said Proton Chief Executive Faiz Francoise Nahab.
