LONDON (Alliance News) - Proton Power Systems PLC Friday announced the introduction of its first battery and fuel cell operated electric commercial vehicle.
The vehicle, develop by Proton's Munich-based subsidiary Motor Fuel Cell GmbH, is in the 7.5 tonne to 12 tonne weight class and uses Proton's HyRange hydrogen fuel cell system which supplies the battery with electrical energy.
The project was supported by funding from the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Programme. The company said the vehicle was available immediately for field testing and is based on the battery-powered Newton vehicle built by partner Smith Electric Vehicles.
Proton Power Systems shares were trading down 0.02 pence at 2.98 pence Friday morning.
