(Alliance News) - Proton Motor Power Systems PLC on Wednesday said it has secured a deal worth EUR400,000 to supply 45 fuel cell systems to bin collection trucks in Belgium as part of a EU sustainability project.
Shares in the fuel cell firm were 24% higher at 45.74 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
The order is part of "Refuse Vehicle Innovation & Validation in Europe", an EU-funded scheme which aims to find a sustainable means to transport waste. The programme began in 2018 and will run until 2021.
Proton Chief Executive Faiz Nahab said: "We are delighted with this order as it further confirms the European appetite for cleaner cities and is a clear indication for higher demand for hydrogen as a clean energy source."
