(Alliance News) - Prospex Energy PLC on Monday said production from the Viura gas field in Spain is set to restart soon, after the operator began repair work on a well that was shut down earlier this year.
The Europe-focused gas and power project investor said the operator, Heyco Energia Iberia SL, or HEI, has mobilised a workover rig to fix a leak in the Viura-1B well's completion tubing. The well has been offline since April.
Prospex said it has been advised that production reinstatement is now "imminent."
Prospex holds a 7.2% effective interest in the Viura field, via its 7.5% stake in HEI. The company is currently receiving around 14% of the field's production income until it recovers its capital investment, which is expected to total around GBP8 million plus accrued interest of 10% per annum.
"This is good news from HEI that the planned workover is on target to deliver the resumption of production from the Viura field later this month," said Prospex Chief Executive Officer Mark Routh.
Shares in Prospex were up 3.9% at 5.61 pence in London at midday on Monday.
