LONDON (Alliance News) - Weir Group PLC has added its name to the list of Scotland's FTSE 100 companies which has threatened to relocate in the event of a Yes vote in the independence referendum, The Times reported Friday.
Keith Cochrane, the Chief Executive of the engineering group, said he would abandon the company's Glasgow base if the leaders of an independent Scotland are unable to provide immediate assurances on the country's currency and tax regime, The Times said, citing comments Cochrane made on Thursday night.
?All business leaders have a fiduciary duty to do what is best for our shareholders,? Cochrane said. ?Weir will only continue to be based here if the business environment, which has helped Weir grow into a truly global company, continues to support our ambitions."
Shares in Weir Group were trading 0.37% higher at 2,730.00 pence per share Friday morning.
