LONDON (Alliance News) - Trinity Mirror PLC's Mirror Group Newspaper subsidiary has agreed to pay out GBP125,000 to settle six phone-hacking claims against individuals, and faces nearly 50 compensation cases, the Guardian reported Friday.
Amongst the individual claims, former England football club manager Sven-Goran Eriksson and actor Christopher Ecceleston both settled their claims for GBP30,000 each.
The details of the settlement were outlined in a document submitted by the publisher at a high court hearing. 28 claims have already been registered with the court, with another "10 to 20" actions about to be issued.
Four of eight lead cases that were due to go to trial in February remained outstanding, including a case involving actor Shane Richie, the report said.
A spokesperson for Trinity Mirror was not immediately available for comment.
