LONDON (Alliance News) - The chief executive of Three UK said the British mobile phone market has become increasingly dysfunctional, as he argued that the acquisition of O2 by Three's owner will help, not hurt, competition, the Financial Times reported.
David Dyson, Three UK's CEO, said the merger with O2, which would turn Three into the UK's largest mobile group with a 40% market share, would correct an existing problem with competition rather than create another.
He said EE, recently acquired by BT Group PLC, and Vodafone Group PLC, have been squeezing smaller rivals due to their larger holdings of the airwaves needed to carry mobile services.
