PRESS: Tesco To Trial Pet Grooming Salons In Stores - Daily Telegraph

30th Dec 2015 06:50

LONDON (Alliance News) - Tesco PLC has tabled plans to start trialling dog grooming services in its biggest supermarkets as it attempts to boost the performance of its superstores, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The company will open a "Pet Den" as its Culverhouse Cross store in Cardiff in January, which will allow shoppers to have their cats and dogs groomed whilst they shop. The trial may then be rolled out across the group's other stores and is part of the plan by Chief Executive Dave Lewis to repurpose Tesco's huge Extra stores.

The level of enthusiasm for superstores has waned in recent years as shoppers instead make more frequent trips to convenience stores or order goods online.
