LONDON (Alliance News) - Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC is under fire after making a mistake that meant it sat on almost GBP250,000 of customer money, the Guardian reported on Sunday.
The bank said it has now agreed to return cash to about 4,500 customers after apologising for the error, the newspaper said.
The Guardian said the setback was due to faulty computer settings established to identify the owners of dormant accounts.
Shares in RBS were down 0.6% at 283.80 pence on Monday morning.
