PRESS: Pearson Shareholders Call For Review Of CEO's Position - FT

20th Jan 2017 06:55

LONDON (Alliance News) - Shareholders of Pearson PLC have called on the board to review the position of John Fallon as chief executive following the education publisher's significant profit warning on Wednesday, the Financial Times reported Thursday.

Fallon has started a series of meetings with leading shareholders this week to examine the company's performance, according to the report.

The Financial Times quoted one top 20 shareholder as saying on Fallon's position: "I don't think he can survive this." Another was quoted as saying: "If he was called into [Chairman Sidney] Taurel's office and fired, he shouldn't be surprised. No one would be".

Since Fallon was appointed as chief executive in October 2012, Pearson has issued five profit warnings, and its share price has halved.
