LONDON (Alliance News) - FTSE 250-listed enterprise software developer Micro Focus International PLC is in advanced talks to merge with, or be taken over by, US rival Attachmate Corp, the FT reported over the weekend, citing people familiar with the matter.
A deal could be announced this week, the people said, but they cautioned the talks could still collapse. The people added any deal would be at a premium to its market capitalisation, which was GBP1.17 billion at the close of trade on Friday, the FT said.
The deal may provide an opening for a public listing for Attachmate by its private equity and hedge fund owners, allowing them to exit their positions in the company.
