LONDON (Alliance News) - Merlin Entertainments PLC has pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety rules following the Smiler rollercoaster crash last year at its Alton Towers amusement park, Sky News reported.
Two people had their legs amputated following the collision on the Smiler ride in June last year, while three others suffered life-threatening injuries.
Merlin indicated a guilty plea to a charge of breaching the UK Health & Safety at Work Act, Sky said, and will likely face a hefty fine.
Merlin shares were down 1.2% to 441.40 pence on Friday.
