LONDON (Alliance News) - Lloyds Banking Group PLC is cutting 1,755 jobs and closing 29 branches, the Guardian reported on Wednesday.
The move is part of a plan revealed back in October 2014, when the bank said it would cut a total of 9,000 jobs and close 150 branches net over the next three years.
Staff were told about the job losses on Wednesday, the report said, with union officials hoping that reductions can be achieved by voluntary means.
Shares in Lloyds, in which the UK government has a 9.2% stake, were down 0.2% at 61.85 pence on Wednesday afternoon.
