LONDON (Alliance News) - Lloyds Banking Group PLC is to close a further 15 branches in the first quarter of 2019, the Sun reported on Wednesday.
"We have confirmed the locations of a small number of Lloyds bank branches which will close between January and March 2019," a Lloyds spokeswoman told the newspaper.
There are 49 Lloyds and Halifax branch closures already planned between July and October this year, with this announcement bringing the total scheduled closures to 64. These closures, Lloyds said, reflect reduced branch transaction and changing customer behaviour.
The Sun reported that these changes form part of a workforce and branch network overhaul to reflect the increase in online banking.
Shares in Lloyds Banking Group were up 0.6% at 59.23 pence on Thursday.
