LONDON (Alliance News) - Senior British civil servant John Kingman has emerged as a contender to be the new chairman of blue-chip life insurer and investment manager Legal & General Group PLC, Sky News reported.
Kingman, in the process of stepping down as second permanent secretary of the Treasury, is understood to have been approached about taking over from John Stewart at the helm of L&G, Sky said.
Sky said it was unclear how close Kingman is to landing the role, but L&G in late May said it was close to identifying a successor to Stewart as it confirmed his June 1 departure date.
