LONDON (Alliance News) - Japanese ingredients company Ajinomoto Co Inc is understood to be considering making a bid for Tate & Lyle PLC's Splenda sucralose business, The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday.
Tate & Lyle said in a trading update last week it was still considering how to maximise returns from the Splenda division and would decide on its future at a board meeting in April.
Ajinomoto, which makes aspartame and food additive mono-sodium glutamate, is understood to be interested in the division but has not made any approach to Tate & Lyle's board as yet, the newspaper said.
