LONDON (Alliance News) - Glencore Xstrata PLC is set to name Tony Hayward as Chairman following a year long search for Sir John Bond's replacement, according to a report in The Telegraph late Wednesday.
The former BP PLC Chief has been serving as interim Chairman since last May, and is expected to step down from his role as Chief Executive of Genel Energy within a year or two as a result of the new appointment, according to The Telegraph.
Confirmation on Hayward's appointment with the FTSE 100 giant could come as soon as Thursday morning, the newspaper said, adding that Glencore will hint at a ?period of transition? during which Hayward will spend increasing amounts of time focused on his new role.
Hayward left BP in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in April 2010. He joined Genel as CEO in June 2011.
