LONDON (Alliance News) - Ghana has been ordered by an international tribunal not to start any new offshore oil drilling in disputed waters with the Ivory Coast, the BBC reported on Sunday.
The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, however, said Ghana can continue developing existing oilfields in the disputed waters, including the Ten fields, which are part-owned by Tullow Oil PLC.
The Ivory Coast had requested all drilling be suspended, but the tribunal ruled this would risk "considerable financial loss" to Ghana, the BBC said.
