LONDON (Alliance News) - Former HSBC Holdings PLC Finance Director Iain Mackay is currently in the running to become chief financial officer of FTSE 100-listed pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline PLC, Sky News reported on Friday.
According to sources, Mackay has been in discussions with GSK Chief Executive Emma Walmsley and Chairman Philip Hampton for several weeks.
Mackay's competitor for the role is GSK Chief Strategy Officer David Redfern.
Whoever gets the position will be replacing Simon Dingemans, who will be stepping down from the role in May 2019.
Mackay had been finance head of HSBC since December 2010 and was one of the top internal candidates to replace former Chief Executive Stuart Gulliver, who left in February.
