LONDON (Alliance News) - A fire has broken out at SSE PLC's coal-fired Ferrybridge C power station, near Castleford, West Yorkshire, the BBC reported Thursday.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service dispatched about 75 firefighters to the site at about 1400 BST, the BBC said.
It quoted National Grid saying the power station was currently on "summer shutdown" and has not been generating electricity. National Grid added that a major substation on the site was not thought to have been damaged.
