PRESS: Experian Chair Don Robert Being Lined Up As New LSE Chair - Sky

4th Dec 2018 08:20

LONDON (Alliance News) - The chairman of Experian PLC is at an "advanced stage" of talks about taking over the chair of the London Stock Exchange Group PLC, Sky News reported late Monday.

Don Robert - who has been chairman of the FTSE 100-listed credit agency since July 2014 - is the leading candidate to succeed Donald Brydon at LSE, Sky News said, adding an announcement is expected from LSE "before Christmas".

Brydon will not stand for re-election at LSE's spring annual general meeting following controversy over the departure of former LSE chief executive officer Xavier Rolet.

In December 2017, shareholders at the London Stock Exchange Group's general meeting rejected a proposal from an activist shareholder seeking to remove Brydon.

At the meeting, 79% of voting shareholders rejected a resolution tabled by The Children's Investment Fund, a 5% stakeholder, which took issue with Brydon's handling of the departure of Rolet. However, 21% of shareholders voted in favour.

In April this year, LSE appointed former Goldman Sachs Inc executive David Schwimmer as its new CEO, and he started in August.

Schwimmer replaced David Warren who served as interim CEO since November of last year when long-standing boss Rolet left. Warren remains as chief financial officer of the FTSE 100-listed firm.

Shares in London Stock Exchange Group were trading flat at 4,079.00 pence each. Experian shares were up 0.4% at 1,957.50p.
