LONDON (Alliance News) - Electricals and mobile phones retailer Dixons Carphone PLC is planning to launch an emergency service for home gadgets in an attempt to identify a new avenue of revenue growth, according to a report in The Sunday Telegraph.
The retailer is planning to introduce subscription services for customers to help them maintain gadgets and home appliances. Customers will be offered remote monitoring of their home networks to identify faults and the ability to get help via an app, including engineer call-outs.
Sources told the paper Dixons Carphone executives believe the growing array of internet-connected devices in homes and the increasing importance they have in daily life has created scope for a gadget-focused version of car breakdown services such as the RAC and AA.
