PRESS: Dixons Carphone Data Breach Facing Watchdog Probe - BBC

10th Aug 2015 05:50

LONDON (Alliance News) - The UK data regulator is understood to be "making inquiries" after mobile retailer Carphone Warehouse said the personal details of up to 2.4 million of its customers may have been accessed in a cyber-attack, the BBC reports.

The Information Commissioner's Office, which probes data breaches, confirmed to the BBC that it was aware of the incident and was working on a response. The breach was discovered on Wednesday and made public on Saturday, with Carphone Warehouse saying the credit card details of up to 90,000 people may have been accessed

FTSE 100-listed Dixons Carphone PLC, the owner of Carphone Warehouse, apologised for the breach and said it has implemented additional security measures.
