PRESS: De La Rue Appeals Against UK Passport Contract Decision

LONDON (Alliance News) - Current UK passport maker De La Rue PLC is appealing the decision by the UK Home Office to award the new contract to Franco-Dutch firm Gemalto, the BBC said Tuesday.

De La Rue had said two weeks ago it was considering an appeal, after it lost the ten-year, GBP400.0 million contract, which is due to expire next year.

The BBC said the company accepted its bid may not have been the cheapest but said it was "the highest quality and technically most secure".
