LONDON (Alliance News) - C&C Group PLC is understood to be considering making a bid for Mitchells & Butlers PLC after its approach for Spirit Pub Co PLC was rejected in favour of a rival offer from Greene King PLC, The Sunday Times reported.
The Irish drinks company, which makes Magners cider and Tennent's lager, has spoken to some major shareholders to say that while it remains keen on a deal for Spirit, a merger with M&B would be the "dream deal", the paper said, citing City sources.
It is understood, however, that C&C is yet to approach M&B about a possible deal, the newspaper said.
