LONDON (Alliance News) - Burberry Group PLC is suing US department store chain JC Penney Co for trademark infringement, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper said the British luxury fashion retailer accused JC Penney of selling outerwear which featured replicas of its famous "Burberry check" pattern, and filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
According to WSJ, Burberry claimed JC Penney continued selling the products for two months after it had alerted the retailer of its objections.
The check design has been protected since founder Thomas Burberry trademarked it in the 1920s.
