LONDON (Alliance News) - BT PLC has poached British Sky Broadcasting PLC executive Delia Bushell to head up its television division, The Guardian reported late Monday.
Bushell has worked at BSkyB and Sky Italia for 14 years, and was most recently chief commercial officer at Sky Italia. Bushell will take on the new role at BT in July, the newspaper said.
Prior to that Bushell was director of broadband and telephony at BSkyB.
The appointment comes as rivalry between the two companies has heated up over football rights since the launch of BT's new BT Sport service, a rival to BSkyB's established paid sports offerings. BT snapped up Champions League football rights for GBP900 million in a three year deal, and is expected to challenge BSkyB over further broadcasting rights.
Bushell's appointment follows the departure of BT's TV chief Marc Watson, the Guardian said.
