LONDON (Alliance News) - BT Group PLC will consider forming joint ventures with German peer Deutsche Telekom AG after the latter becomes the former's largest shareholder following the acquisition of EE Ltd, according to comments made by BT's chairman to the Financial Times.
Speaking to the FT, Mike Rake said BT would be looking to agree strategic partnerships and more media deals to bolster its television business. He also refused to rule out a possible bid for Channel 4 should the terrestrial broadcaster be privatised by the UK government next year.
BT is due to complete the purchase of EE from Deutsche Telekom and Orange SA next month and, as part of the deal Deutsche will get a 12% stake in BT.
