LONDON (Alliance News) - The heavy damage caused to BP PLC's Whiting, Indiana refinery will take at least a month to repair, Reuters reports, citing sources familiar with the plant's plans.
Piping inside the 413,500-barrel per day facility was damaged after a malfunction at the weekend. Scott Dean, a spokesman for BP, declined to discuss operations at the refinery, which is the FTSE 100-listed oil major's biggest in the US.
"I would expect longer rather than shorter," one of the sources told Reuters, though the source said the timeframe for the repairs was preliminary and may change.
