PRESS: Barclays To Quit Investment Banking In Korea, Taiwan - Reuters

LONDON (Alliance News) - Barclays PLC is set to reveal job cuts at its investment banking operations across Asia, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

Citing people with direct knowledge of the matter, the report said the cuts will include closing investment banking businesses in Korea and Taiwan.

The cuts, which will be announced next week according to Reuters, will include corporate finance and advisory staff in both those countries, as well as equities sales and research staff.

Overall, at least 50 jobs across Asia will affected, the report said.

"We are constantly monitoring our opportunities in different geographies and businesses over the cycle. If any firm decisions are made, we will provide an update," a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman for the bank told Reuters.

Shares in Barclays were trading flat at 214.25 pence on Tuesday.
