LONDON (Alliance News) - Barclays PLC has agreed to hand over internal documents over its 2008 fundraising to UK prosecutors, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.
Citing four people with knowledge of the situation, the report said Barclays is in the process of giving the documents to the UK Serious Fraud Office, which has been investigating since 2012. The bank had previously resisted such a move.
The investigation concerns GBP322.0 million in advisory fees paid by Barclays to the Qatar Investment Authority during its GBP7.0 billion fundraising, which helped the bank avoid a state bailout during the global financial crisis of 2008-09.
Shares in Barclays were up 2.3% at 169.40 pence on Thursday afternoon.
