LONDON (Alliance News) - The former chief executive of banking group HBOS is set to land a top management role at the gambling company set to be formed from the merger of Ladbrokes PLC and Gala Coral Group Ltd, Sky News reports.
Andy Hornby, who left his role heading HBOS following the financial crisis in 2008, is set to be named chief operating officer of the merged gaming company, with a deal potentially to be announced as early as Friday, according to sources cited by Sky. Sky said the new company will be called Ladbrokes Coral PLC.
Jim Mullen, Ladbrokes' chief executive, is expected to be given the top job at the merged company and will likely have to oversee, with Hornby, the sale of hundreds of betting shops in order to get the deal past competition regulators.
